Long Distance Race
Dallas Corinthian Yacht Club invites you to participate in the Singlehanded Challenge Long Distance Race to be held Saturday, July 16th, 2011 at DCYC on Lewisville Lake, Oak Point, Texas.
The Regatta will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing except as modified by the Sailing Instructions.
Entries and Eligibility
This regatta is open to all sailors.
Courses are listed in the race instructions. Start/Finish line will be red/green approximately 300 yards west of the DCYC clubhouse. Courses will involve marks Red, Green, 1, 4, 5, 12 and ‘Tree’.
Fleets will be determined by the Race Committee based on the number and type boats that register for the Regatta. No spinnaker allowed. All entrants will have a PHRF rating assigned by the Race Committee.
Registration fee is $10 per boat. Registration must be submitted electronically through the on-line registration form. Those who have registered for the original date (June 18) do not need to register again. They will be notified. They may cancel their registration by sending a note to the Fleet Captain.
Saturday, July 16th there will be a Skippers meeting at 12 noon held downstairs at the DCYC Clubhouse. This will be a reverse handicap race. First start (highest handicap) is at 1pm. Your start will depend on the course and your handicap. Starting times will be determined at the skippers meeting. Awards will be presented after the race.
SPECIAL SINGLEHANDED RACING RULES:
- Only one sailor per boat allowed
- For safety it is required to run a VHF radio on Channel 69 at any time.
- PFD is required under any condition.
- No powered steering aids (autopilot) are allowed. Mechanical steering aids (“tiller tamer” etc.) are allowed.
- CHANGE OF RI: spinnaker allowed. Those declaring non-spinnaker add 18 seconds to their base PHRF handicap..
