TAKE THE HELM WOMEN’S SAILING PROGRAM
CLASSROOM SESSION & POTLUCK
This is our second classroom session for the Take the Helm Women's Sailing Program ("TTH").
There is no fee, but registration is required.
REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED
Open to all women (members and guests) interested in being part of the program regardless of your boating experience.
This classroom session will focus on getting to know one another, learning the basics of boating and sailing, and will have a Q&A opportunity at the end of the session. We will also discuss the format for future classroom and on-the-water sessions.
On the Water Session Plan:
Learn how to leave/return to the dock/slip
Learn upwind/downwind sailing (helm, trim, etc.)
Learn how to slow down a boat
Additional items will be announced on day of class
Dress accordingly - wear layers if weather is cold and wear an outer windbreaker layer
Bring a life jacket (if you do not have one, we will provide you one)
Bring sailing gloves!! If you don't have a pair, go invest in one. They are around $25 at West Marine
Wear non-skid, white soled shoes
1:30 pm - Arrive and meet at downstairs Clubhouse
2 pm - Boat assignments and down to the docks
2-3:30 pm - On the Water Sailing Class (weather permitting; otherwise alternative classroom will be held in the clubhouse)
3:30 pm and on - Socializing
BYOB AND BRING A DISH OR SNACK TO SHARE AFTER OUR CLASSROOM EXERCISE!!
